Every webpage on every website has some carbon emissions associated with it whenever a page is viewed. That's because a server has to send data all the way across to your phone or computer for you to see what's out there on the web.
Sustainable web design is concerned with creating low-carbon websites, or eco-websites. These have been optimised using several practices such as clean code, image optimisation, static site generation and more to create a more lightweight product. As a result, the carbon released per page view will be much lower.
Our most efficient build uses a static site generation framework called Astro and a headless CMS called Sanity. This is also known as a custom-coded website because it doesn't use a website builder. Thanks to the granular control we are able to optimise every part of the site and create a much more lightweight website known as a static site.
We also can produce pretty low-carbon Webflow websites, which gives you the advantages of modern website builders (and a smaller investment with us, as they're easier to build), while still being able to minimise your site's carbon footprint. We're pretty good at optimising these sites, but not as much as the custom-coded sites.

Optimising your website for search engines (mostly Google) can be a great way to improve your site’s visibility and get more traffic. However, it’s just one of the many ways in which you can get more eyeballs on your site — and by default, our web design and development focuses on the more technical aspects of SEO, as opposed to content SEO.
This alone will increase Google’s love for your site, but if we add professional copywriting to the project, we can weave SEO keywords into the copy, further increasing the likelihood that Google will put your website in front of browsers when they search for something related to your product, service, or brand. We build websites in Webflow, ensuring they’re fast, scalable, carbon-optimised, SEO-friendly, responsive, and backed by enterprise-level infrastructure. Compared to websites created from the ground up with custom code, Webflow sites cost less to create and typically offer easier editing for you.
Our super eco-friendly builds, on the other hand, are built using custom code and a headless CMS, usually a combo of Astro and Sanity. This results in what’s known as a statically generated site, which, as a more lightweight solution, has an even lower carbon footprint. These sites are often a little faster, too — but more expensive than our Webflow builds.
