From frustration to impact for a purpose-driven brand
The brief
3 steps we took to redefine Humanity Research Consultancy’s online presence
When HRC first came to me, they had an incredible mission—to help end modern day slavery.
Can we get more purposeful than that?
But their website? It was holding them back.
A dated site, frustrating to use for their admins, and, worst of all, they were limited in how well they could show off the amazing impact they make.
They knew something had to change if they were going to reach more of their audience and help more people.
So, we got to work.
What we did
1. I worked in collaboration with a UX designer in the early stages of the project.
We discussed goals, requests and what was feasible for their new website. The designs got user tested and we planned how and what we would track to measure the impact of the new designs.
2. Once designs were finalised, I got building.
After mapping out how all of HRC’s data would be mapped out I started building the website using Webflow.
It was complicated but a lot of fun. HRC have a lot of content you see: news updates, press items, publications and annual reports, all of which link to each other in different ways. But these form the bedrock of how HRC spread their message, so they’re very important.
I built this out using Webflow's CMS and enabled a tailored approach using custom code.
3. Filmed support videos, gave an offboarding call and monitored the live website.
I always take pride in how I support our clients after launch! I don’t like just leaving clients with something they don’t know how to use.
Along with ongoing support and growth, I also offer recorded tutorials for different parts of the site and offboarding training sessions for your whole team.
Results
Through strategic design, consideration of the user journey, and a new functional website that put their mission front and centre, HRC gained a site they were finally proud to share and happy to use.
Plus:
- More intuitive content for their website visitors
- Direct positive messages from visitors mentioning the website and wanting to connect with HRC
- Most importantly, a renewed sense of pride and excitement about their digital presence
Not to mention analytics set up so they can actually track performance and optimise the site (more on those results soon).
